We all want more traffic to our websites right? Of course, the right traffic is the key to growing your business. But how do we ensure that we are getting traffic to our site? I’m going to dig into 3 proven strategies to boost your organic traffic.
In my opinion, creating a solid SEO foundation will by far benefit your blog so much more than social media. For instance, so many bloggers are freaking out about their drop in Pinterest traffic lately.
If you have a solid SEO foundation, that generating the bulk of your traffic, then the change in Pinterest traffic would not hurt your page views as badly.
Recently, I was looking over my website statistics for my blog in google analytics.
A couple of months ago I noticed, that I was not driving in the amount of organic traffic I was hoping for. Which really irked me, because I thought I was doing everything correctly when it came to my SEO strategy (search engine optimization).
By the way, if you need help with Search Engine Optimization, I use SEMRush to give me the best keywords to use in my blog post to rank higher in Google.
1. Site Health
Table of Contents
I worked very late a couple of nights, testing different strategies on my site, to use in a case study about boosting organic traffic.
And I realized my website’s health was not very good. Which plays a factor in with how your rank in Search Engines.
I performed an analysis on my site using SEMRush, the site audit provides you information about your site’s health and what needs to be improved to be search engine friendly.
A site that is not running properly will be penalized by Google? Yep. King Google doesn’t like
- slow sites
- duplicate content
- broken links

If your site doesn’t provide a great experience to a user, you won’t rank high in Google.
To avoid this issue, and save yourself unnecessary stress and a lot of time, go over to SEMRush and plug in your domain name, and you can check to see if any internal links or outgoing links are broken.
If you find that your site is slow, the first thing you should do compress your images. Having oversized images on your site can decrease the speed of your website.
Use a plugin like Smush to compress your images, and boost your website’s speed.
Another issue that causes websites to load slowly, is subpar web hosting. According to Google, over 40% of users will abandon a page if it doesn’t load in 3 seconds. YIKES!
To resolve a slow site use, web hosting companies that are super fast and will improve your site’s speed. These are two of the fastest companies that most bloggers use.

2. Quality Vs Quantity
Google crawls our website to search for new content, the more content you are pushing out the better. Let me explain.
When you are pushing out fresh content often, that sends a signal to Google, that your site is highly active. Which means it will be “crawled” more often by Google, which increases the amount of organic traffic your site receives.
Remember our number one goal, for your blog is to make sure you rank higher in search results.
However, you don’t want to sacrifice quality over quantity. Creating a content strategy is going to be fundamental to boosting your organic traffic.

The easiest way I can explain the term content strategy is choosing to create the right content, for the right audience, at the right time.
Your first step to having a solid content strategy is to identify the search volume of targeted keywords, keyword difficulty, and traffic cost.
Before I write each blog, I head over to SEMRush and input my target keywords, from there the software provides me with the following;
- the keyword difficulty
- traffic cost
- search volume
Your content strategy will also affect your click-through rate, your bounce rate and time spent on your site.
Good content ranks higher on Google. So make sure you are creating great blog post consistently, but make sure it’s quality content.
3. Content Engagement
Time spent on your site is one of the factors Google uses to determine where you belong in the search engine rankings.
If your bounce rate(how quickly someone leaves your site) that signals to Google something ugly is going on with your content or your site.
