In addition to rolled paper backdrops, muslin backdrops are also an option. However, muslin backdrops do require a little bit more upkeep than rolled paper backdrops.
Many photographers who have a DIY photo studio use studio lighting kits. They don’t have to be hugely expensive lights. You can purchase a good lighting kit for around 50 dollars depending upon the brand.
